MBKS Ramadan Bazaar at Stutong boasts 160 stalls of gastronomic bliss

KUCHING, March 12: When the air is filled with the aroma of spices, it can only mean one thing – the much-awaited return of the Ramadan bazaar in the heart of the community near Stutong Market, where a vibrant atmosphere and tantalising array of culinary treasures await at the MBKS Ramadan Bazaar.

Stepping into the bustling bazaar, one is immediately enveloped in a symphony of scents, as the the bazaar boasts over 160 stalls to explore, with options as diverse as they are delicious.


From an impressive selection of savoury Malay dishes to hearty lemang and nasi imput, succulent barbecued delights like satay and fish, to the irresistable crunch of deep-fried delicacies like chicken and seafood, alongside tantalising sharwama, an array of kuih-muih and refreshing colourful drinks, the MBKS Ramadan Bazaar near Stutong Market is an experience not to be missed.

Speaking at the launch of the bazaar today, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian emphasised that the MBKS Ramadan Bazaar is not merely a marketplace but a testament to the rich cultural tapestry of Sarawak’s diverse community.

“It is a celebration of diversity, unity, and the spirit of togetherness that defines us as a community.

“Ramadan is a time of reflection, spirituality and compassion, and what better way to celebrate this spirit of Ramadan than through the communal experience of the bazaar,” he said in his speech read by Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.

Urging Sarawakians to support local entrepreneurs and businesses operating at the bazaar, Dr Sim recognised them as the heart of the bazaar, bringing their talents and creations not only to enrich the cultural landscape but also to drive economic growth and prosperity in the community.

“As we navigate through the colourful stalls and tantalising aromas of the bazaar, let us take a moment to appreciate the diversity of cultures and traditions that make our community so special.

“Let us embrace this opportunity to learn from one another, to celebrate our differences, and to strengthen the bonds of friendship and solidarity that unite us,” he added.

Meanwhile, MBKS Ramadan Bazaar organising chairman councillor Drahman Jaladin highlighted that this bazaar is not only a place to shop for food but a harmonious gathering point for the diverse community.

“We welcome all residents from various backgrounds, races or religions to gather in this loving and respectful atmosphere,” he added.
