17 food-related businesses in Sibu found flouting Food Act in 2023

SIBU, Oct 26: Over the course of the year, 17 food-related businesses in Sibu have violated the Food Act.

These include one food processing factory, eight eateries, and eight food stalls.

According to Sibu District Health Department officer Dr Teh Jun Hun, these businesses were typically instructed to cease operations for a two-week period.

After completing the necessary cleaning and fulfilling the department’s requirements, the owners could reapply for reopening within 24 hours.

Dr Teh further stated that the department conducts regular and routine inspections of food premises, and businesses that fail to meet the required standards are temporarily shut down for cleaning. — DayakDaily
