14 Covid-19 cases in critical condition out of 2,358 new cases in Sarawak today

KUCHING, Sept 28: Fourteen Covid-19 cases or 0.59 per cent of the total are in the critical stage of the disease as Sarawak registered 2,358 new daily infections today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said of the 14 cases, nine patients (0.38 per cent) are in Category 3 who developed pneumonia but can still breathe on their own, three patients (0.13 per cent) in Category 4 need oxygen supply, while two Category 5 patients (0.08 per cent) need a ventilator to breathe.

Meanwhile, the remaining 2,344 new cases or 99.41 per cent are in Category 1 (no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms).


“There are 893 cases (37.87 per cent) in Category 1 while 1,451 cases (61.54 per cent) are in Category 2,” it said.

SDMC added that Kuching district took the lead in the number of cases today with 657, followed by Sibu (255), Bintulu (183), Miri (181), Samarahan (134), Limbang (121), Sri Aman (104), Sarikei (99), Lundu (85), Mukah (71), Betong (61), Serian (58), Asajaya (45), Bau (39), Pusa (36), Dalat (31), Kapit (28), Simunjan (27) and Saratok (23).

Districts registering less than 20 new cases are Pakan (15), Lawas (15), Lubok Antu (13), Kanowit (11), Subis (10), Tanjung Manis (9), Meradong (9), Julau (7), Selangau (7), Belaga (6), Tatau (6), Bukit Mabong (5), Song (2), Tebedu (2), Kabong (1), Daro (1) and Matu (1).

Four districts of Marudi, Beluru, Telang Usan and Sebauh did not record any new cases today. — DayakDaily
