JULAU, May 8: A 13-year-old student of SMK Julau was killed while his father sustained serious injuries following a motorcycle self-accident along Kilometre 502 of Jalan KJD here.
Julau District Police Chief DSP Andam Sulin said during the accident, which occurred at about 1.40pm yesterday, the victim, a Form One student, and his father were riding a motorbike.
The motorcycle ridden by the victim’s 35-year-old father was believed to have skidded and hit the road divider.
“The pillion rider who was the son of the motorcyclist was confirmed dead at the scene by Sarikei Hospital paramedics, while the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was sent to Sarikei Hospital for further treatment,” Andam said in a statement today.
The victim’s body was sent to the Sarikei Hospital mortuary for further action.
Further investigation of the case is still being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
