KUCHING, Nov 20: Twelve families were left homeless after a fire destroyed houses along Jalan Sibiyu in Bintulu today.
According to a report from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they received a call regarding the incident at 1.38am and deployed firefighters from Bomba Bintulu.
“After their arrival at the location, the operation commander reported that flames has destroyed a block of two-storey house units including another block of a 20-door one-storey house,” it said.
Firefighters then proceeded to extinguish the fire and manage to control the situation at 3am, which they followed with an overhaul operation to ensure no sources of ignition were left.
A total of 60 individuals were affected by the incident, and no casualties were reported. — DayakDaily
