KUCHING, Aug 3: Ten more teenagers and youths, including three girls, aged between 14 and 21 have been arrested in connection with an aggravated assault on July 29 at Jalan Tun Jugah that culminated in the death of an 18-year-old boy.
Kuching District police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah, in a statement today said that all the arrests will be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which shall be punished with death, if convicted.
The latest arrest was made on Aug 2 involving three teenagers including one girl aged between 14 and 19.
“Police remand for the three was applied on Aug 3 and approved by the Court for seven days until Aug 10,” he said.
Following the attack on July 29, the police had made the first arrest involving two men, aged 43 and 50, after the teenage boy succumbed to his injuries and died at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
Ahsmon said the second arrest involved a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, where a police remand was approved for seven days until Aug 6.
“The third arrest involved a 21-year-old male youth, with a police remand approved until Aug 7.
“The fourth arrest involved three males and one female, aged between 15 and 21, with a police remand approved until Aug 8,” he informed.
Ahsmon added that the case is completed with all the suspects arrested and the police will refer to the Deputy Prosecutor Office for further action.
On July 29, police said initial investigation indicated that the fight stemmed from the victim’s love relationship. ā DayakDaily
