KUCHING, April 6: Sarawakians should support local brands so that they are able to penetrate the international market.

This was said by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng during the opening ceremony of the K11 Karaoke & Entertainment (K11) outlet at La Promenade Mall today, where he represented Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

On the opening of the Sarawakian karaoke and entertainment outlet, he said outlets like that are an important segment as without entertainment, Kuching would be a boring city.

“K11 is our local brand, and we are happy that they have already expanded to Kuala Lumpur and are planning to do the same in other countries,” he said.

Wee elaborated that Sarawak is different now as it also ventures in all types of businesses.

“You can see that after the Covid-19 pandemic, there are a lot of new ventures. I have lost count of how many official openings I attended as mayor,” he said.

He added that the launching of many new ventures is a sign that Sarawak is developing and recovering.

“This is our Sarawak—be proud to be Sarawakian, protect Sarawakians’ interests, and be faithful and support our very own local brand,” he concluded.

Also present were Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Tan Kai, Hock Seng Lee (HSL) Berhad executive director Tony Yu, and K11 executive director Fam Wee Chiang. — DayakDaily
