Kuching Marathon 2024 set to attract global runners from Oct 24-26

KUCHING, May 16: Get ready to lace up those running shoes as the Kuching Marathon 2024 (KM2024) is scheduled to kick off from Oct 24 to 26 at Majma Mall, located on Jalan P Ramlee, Kuching.

According to a press release by Kuching Marathon, the event will be held between 10am to 7pm on Oct 24 and 25, whereas on Oct 26, the event will commence at 10am and conclude at 5pm.


Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that the event aims to attract runners from across the globe, with an anticipated participation of 17,000 runners and non-running participants of 3,500 individuals.

There will be a total of six categories that are open for participation, namely the 42km open (men and women), 42km veteran (men and women), 42km national (men and women), 21km open (men and women), 21km veteran (men and women), and 10km open (men and women) with a total prize pool of RM125,000 available for participants to compete for.

All marathon finishers will receive a special finisher t-shirt whereas the first 200 finishers of the full 42km marathon will be rewarded with an extra t-shirt as a bonus. Furthermore, participants will receive specially designed medals for KM2024 featuring a running man adorned in the traditional Iban outfit.

The KM2024 will be the ninth series of the Kuching Marathon since its inauguration on Aug 17, 2014.
