Youth jailed for threatening to kill sibling

KUCHING, May 14: A 32-year-old man was today jailed 8 months by the Magistrate’s Court after he pleaded guilty to a charge of threatening to kill his brother sometime this year.

Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar accepted the accused’s guilty plea and sentenced him to an imprisonment of 8 months.

Accused Nurul Shamsudin Bidin from Kampung Astana Petra Jaya was charged with committing criminal intimidation by threatening his brother, Muhammad Harith Bidin, when he uttered ‘aku bunuh kitak orang semua’ while holding a parang at his house at about 12.15am on Jan 18.

He was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term that may extend to 7 years or with fine or with both upon conviction.

Prosecuting officer Nelson Ensit prosecuted, while the accused was not represented.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, an unemployed man was fined RM2,000 in default 5 months’ jail for causing mischief to a car’s rear windscreen belonging to a Mohd Azmi, resulting in RM500 in losses at a carpark in Taman Sepakat Jaya, RPR Demak Laut, at about 9pm on May 5 this year.

He was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which carries imprisonment of not less than 1 year and not more than 5 years or with fine or both. — DayakDaily
