KUCHING, Dec 9: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Pending incumbent Violet Yong has called on Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Padungan candidate Datuk Wee Hong Seng to learn the constituency boundaries before heading for an election.
Speaking at a press conference today, Yong said she was shocked to see Wee’s election poster located at Jalan Mendu, which apparently is under Pending jurisdiction.
“Wee is a mayor of Kuching South City Council (MBKS). Is he telling us that he does not know the jurisdiction or is unclear about boundaries between Bandar Kuching constituencies?
“If he does not know the very basic fact of boundaries of a constituency he wants to contest in, which is Padungan, then how is he going to represent the people?” Yong asked.
Padungan will see a four-cornered fight between Sarawak Pakatan Harapan and state DAP chief Chong Chien Jien against Wee, Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s (PBK) Raymond Thong and Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) Lina Soo.
In Pending, three-term assemblywoman Yong is in a five-cornered fight with GPS-SUPP’s Milton Foo, PSB’s Tan Kay Hok, PBK’s Teo Kuang Kim and Aspirasi’s Chan Chee Hiong.
Sarawak will head for the polls on Dec 18. — DayakDaily
