KUCHING, May 22: Yayasan Sarawak has introduced a digitalised electronic card called ‘My Yayasan System’ to ensure its free school bus programme meets the right target group.
Minister of Transport Sarawak Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said through the Yayasan Sarawak Free School Bus Programme, the Sarawak government is providing free transport service for school students from the B40 families to ease their burden.
This programme also aims to overcome the problem of absenteeism and dropouts amongst students due to transportation constraints.
“My Ministry and Yayasan Sarawak are strengthening the programme’s implementation to ensure it meets the right target group.
“In this regard, Yayasan Sarawak has introduced a digitalised electronic card called ‘My Yayasan System’,” he said when presenting his ministerial winding-up speech at Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today.
To date, the programme has benefited 7,666 students in Kuching, Sibu, and Miri Divisions. — DayakDaily
