KUCHING, June 20: The Yayasan Peneraju (YP) Talent Bank programme, Malaysia’s first Bumiputera Leadership Talent Bank, is more than just a repository of skills and competencies, but rather a platform to further expand the horizon of Bumiputera talents, said Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib.

According to the Deputy Minister of Economy, YP Talent Bank, spearheaded by Yayasan Peneraju, an agency under the Ministry of Economy, exemplifies the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote Bumiputera empowerment and economic development.

Hanifah also stated that YP Talent Bank will first tap into its extensive alumni network before opening its doors to all Bumiputera individuals seeking to become leaders.

“This initiative will revolutionise the way the government offers initiatives to the talents through a dynamic ecosystem for talent development.

“Rather than a linear scholarship programme, YP Talent Bank promotes a continuous cycle of growth where individuals will have the opportunity to participate both as participants and as mentors upon their graduation as a form of giving back,” Hanifah said during her speech before launching YP Talent Bank, which was held today at a local hotel here.

She went on to say that YP Talent Bank will offer a comprehensive network of support from various experts, professional leaders, and private capital sponsors to accelerate the development of talents, reducing dependency on government resources and preparing the youth for future challenges.

The minister also noted that the initiative aligns with the objectives laid out in the Ekonomi MADANI: Memperkasa Rakyat framework, focusing on creating a robust and inclusive economy by empowering people through education, skills development, and equitable opportunities.

“By investing in our Bumiputera talents, we are not only promoting social justice but also laying the foundation for sustainable and inclusive economic growth,” she added.

Furthermore, Hanifah highlighted that the launch of YP Talent Bank is part of the government’s efforts under the Mid-Term Review of the 12th Malaysia Plan, aimed at addressing skills mismatches in the labour market and ensuring continuous upskilling of the workforce.

Concluding her remarks, Hanifah called on all parties, especially Sarawakians, to join hands with Yayasan Peneraju in this crucial mission.

“Together, let’s build a robust ecosystem where the YP Talent Bank becomes a cornerstone of Bumiputera excellence and national prosperity,” she urged. — DayakDaily
