KUCHING, Dec 16: I will be the check and balance in the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) to ensure fair policies for all, says Wilfred Yap Yau Sin.

The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for N12 Kota Sentosa said this would be his commitment if he is given the opportunity to stand in DUN representing Kota Sentosa.

“I’m a stickler for rules so if there are certain procedures or policies that contravene existing legislations, then I will be the first to point it out.

“If there are any amendments to any bills or introduction of any bills that are unfair to the general public regardless of race and religion, I will be the first to speak because this is my commitment.”

A firm believer in justice, Yap held that the rule of law should take precedence, be it in party constitutions or the Sarawak State Constitution.

He not only pledged to be among those who would call out unjust legislations, but he also assured that he would be the first to voice out.

“(I representing) Kota Sentosa will take the lead, not only in terms of catching up with development, but Kota Sentosa will take the lead in ensuring that legislations that are coming through for the next five years will be fair to everybody regardless of race and religion.

“That is my pledge to everybody if I do get elected,” said Yap, who is also Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa branch chairman and SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) chief.

N12 Kota Sentosa has been under the Opposition for almost 16 years with Sarawak Democractic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen as assemblyman.

Seeing no significant changes in infrastructure or improvement in quality of life for folks in the constituency, Yap said he could be the gamechanger. — DayakDaily
