KUCHING, July 25: Assistant Minister of Utilities (Water Supply) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi will follow up with the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) on the low water pressure woes plaguing Kampung Melayu in Samarahan Division.

He took note of the complaints made by the local residents on social media over the matter, stating that the ministry will take action promptly to address the problem.

“The water supply problem arises following physical factors whereby there is an occurrence of leaked or faulty pipes. Additionally, the dilapidated water booster pump may also cause the same problem.

“Apart from that, the low water pressure problem also occurs due to high number of consumers especially when almost all residents are using water at the same time during the recent Hari Raya Aidiladha,” he said during his visit to Kampung Bintawa Hilir today.

He said repair works is already ongoing at Kampung Melayu but he was not sure when it would be completed.

According to a Facebook user who is residing in the said village, the low water pressure issue since July 17 was scheduled to be resolved by July 20.

However, the issue persists to now, with residents complaining that they only get good water supply from 2pm to 4pm daily. — DayakDaily
