KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10: Singapore has conveyed interest in learning Malaysia’s building information modelling (BIM) and industrialised building system (IBS) methods through Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), says Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
“This includes the expertise and adaptation of the two modules in the implementation of the intelligent transport system (ITS), which is in line with Singapore’s urban planning efforts that support the principles of green design and smart technology,” he said in a Facebook post today.
In the post, he said he received a courtesy visit from Desmond Lee, who is the Singapore Minister for National Development and the Minister-in-Charge of Social Services Integration, at his office today.
“Malaysia and Singapore have established diplomatic relations for 58 years since 1965. Among the bonds of cooperation forged are in the fields of trade, investment, education, defence, disaster management, and communication technology.
“This meeting was held to strengthen further bilateral relations between Singapore and Malaysia and explore cooperation opportunities between the two countries in the construction sector.
“In this regard, I welcome the wish and believe that a strategic partnership can be implemented in the near future for both countries to learn from each other and share expertise to achieve the common good,” he said.
Singapore High Commissioner to Malaysia Vanu Gopala Menon, Works Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam, CIDB chief executive Mohd Zaid Zakaria, and Deputy Director General of Works (Specialist Sector) Datuk Sri Amran were present during the courtesy visit. — DayakDaily
