Works minister represents M’sian govt at Holy See National Day reception in conjunction with Pope Francis’ 12th anniversary

KUCHING, March 14: Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi recently represented the Malaysian government at the Holy See National Day reception ceremony in conjunction with the 12th anniversary of His Holiness Pope Francis’ pontificate.

In a Facebook post on March 13, Nanta, who is the MP for Kapit, expressed his appreciation for being able to attend the ceremony.

Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kuching Dato, Dr Simon Poh, was also present at the ceremony.

“It was my immense pleasure to represent the Malaysian government at the Holy See National Day reception ceremony in Malaysia recently.

“The ceremony was hosted by Archbishop Wojciech Zaluski, Apostolic Nuncio to Malaysia, and was held in conjunction with the twelfth anniversary of His Holiness Pope Francis’ pontificate,” he said in his post.

Francis, 88, was elected pope on March 13, 2013, at the age of 76, and is known for his simplicity and proximity to the people and his emphasis on the poor and vulnerable.

The National Day of the Holy See is celebrated every year on February 11 for the anniversary of the establishment of the Vatican City State with the Lateran Pacts. — DayakDaily
