KUCHING, Feb 19: Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi hopes the Federal government will continue its efforts in supporting Sarawak’s oil and gas (O&G) industry so it can continue to benefit Malaysians.
In a recent Facebook post, Nanta said, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Sarawak has received investments exceeding RM280 billion in the oil and gas industry since 1976, including more than RM90 billion in the period from 2014 to 2024.
Registered vendor companies from Sarawak also obtained contracts exceeding RM40 billion during the same period.
He further highlighted that Sarawak received cash payments of RM49 billion until December 2024 and sales tax of RM18.66 billion until the third quarter of last year.
“Through its shareholding in the MLNG Group, the State has received dividends of RM28.6 billion up to December 2024.
“Petronas has also contributed more than RM600 million to human capital development in Sarawak over the past 10 years.
“Hopefully, the efforts brought by the Madani government can continue to benefit the Malaysian people,” he said. – DayakDaily
