KUCHING, Aug 2: Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi has been conferred the Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (S.S.A.P.) award, which carries the title “Dato’ Sri”, by the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
Nanta was among 52 recipients of Pahang state honours, awards and medals conferred during an investiture ceremony held in conjunction with the 67th birthday celebration of Al-Sultan Abdullah at Balai Mahkota, Istana Abdulaziz, Kuantan on Aug 1.
The S.S.A.P. award, which carries the title “Dato’ Sri”, was conferred on 16 recipients, including Nanta, Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Dr Ramli Mohd Nor, Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah, Army Chief General Tan Sri Azhan Md Othman and singer Datuk Shaheila Abdul Majid, better known as Sheila Majid.

In a Facebook post, Nanta expressed his gratitude to the Sultan of Pahang for the conferment, describing the recognition as a great honour and responsibility that he would uphold with humility.
“May this award become a source of encouragement for me to continue serving the people and the nation with full commitment and integrity,” he said.
The ceremony was also attended by the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and state government leaders.
Nanta, who is also Kapit MP and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) secretary-general, has been serving as Works Minister since December 2022.
He was first elected as Kapit MP in 1999 and has previously served as Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs from 2020 to 2022. — DayakDaily
