KUCHING, Aug 2: A 66-year-old woman and her 38-year-old daughter, who is a person with disabilities (PWD), escaped unharmed after a fire damaged their double-storey home in Taman Satria Jaya BDC here today.
In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 12.49pm, and firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya station were deployed.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-storey permanent-structure house measuring approximately 20 ft x 40 ft, with about 50 per cent of the ground floor engulfed in flames.
A neighbouring house sustained minor damage, with about five per cent affected by heat and smoke.
The occupants managed to evacuate safely before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control using a 200-foot hose line, a first-aid hose reel, and a 100-foot hose line connected to a nearby fire hydrant. — DayakDaily
