Workers’ quarters, squatters, longhouses among seven localities under lockdown


KUCHING, June 29: The Sebangun workers’ quarters at Jalan Tanjung Kidurong, Bintulu and Pulau Riam squatters at Sangan, Tatau are among the seven localities placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) until July 11.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily updates on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak has also ordered five other areas in Sri Aman, Saratok and Betong to be placed under a two-week lockdown.

In Sri Aman, EMCO was imposed on Rh Lewis at Kampung Batu Besai from today until July 12, while in Betong, it involved Rh Muda at Issu Bangat from June 30 until July 13.


Three localities in Saratok affected by EMCO are Rh Unchie at Ng Ingu Ili in Kabo (from today until July 12) as well as Rh Edwin at Batu 4 in Sebatan and Rh Ngendin in Emplaie Ulu ( both from June 30 until July 13).

Meanwhile, Kabong District’s Covid-19 advisory status has improved to yellow from orange after recording 20 local cases in the past 14 days.

This has increased the number of districts under yellow zone to eight including Dalat, Marudi, Beluru, Limbang, Pusa, Belaga and Lawas; while the number of districts under orange zone has gone down to two – Lubok Antu and Betong.

There are still 29 districts in Sarawak under the red zone, while Daro is the only district that is free from Covid-19 with no cases reported in the last 14 days.— DayakDaily
