KUCHING, June 2: A fire razed a worker’s quarters and damaged two vehicles at Jalan Cahaya, Taman Saujana Impian in Miri yesterday evening (June 1), with no occupants present at the time.
According to Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Rorudi Umas, emergency services were alerted at 6pm, prompting the deployment of seven firefighters to the scene.
“The blaze involved a non-permanent worker’s quarters with six rooms, which was completely razed.
“No one was home at the time, and attempts to contact the occupants were unsuccessful. No injuries were reported,” he said in a statement today, as reported by TVS.
Firefighters extinguished the fire using two hose lines with nozzles and an additional 200-foot line connected to a nearby fire hydrant.
The fire also damaged a three-tonne lorry, which sustained about 10 per cent damage to its front section, and a Perodua Alza, which was about five per cent burnt in the front.
The cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation. — DayakDaily
