SIBU, Oct 14: A total of 25 people lost their homes when a six-door wooden terrace house and a semi-detached house in Jalan Tong Sang was razed to the ground today.
Those displaced by the blaze were three elderly men, four elderly women, seven men, five women, three boys and three girls.
Sibu Central Fire and Rescue Department chief Suna Kaha said that they received a distress call at 9.15am concerning a fire in Jalan Tong Sang and immediately dispatched a team of firefighters to the scene.
“The team was assisted by a team of members from BBP Sungai Merah.
“A row of six wooden houses was 100 per cent destroyed while a semi-detached house adjacent to them was 80 per cent destroyed” he said.
Suna said there were no casualties or injuries among those affected by the fire.
“The fire was extinguished at 11.46am,” he said. — DayakDaily
