KUCHING, Aug 21: A 32-year-old woodcutter suspected of molesting his eight-year-old daughter has been arrested on Tuesday (Aug 20).

Padawan District police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan, who confirmed the arrest, said that the suspect was picked up at his house in Jalan Matang at about 7.30pm after being interrogated by police officers.

The suspect admitted that he did slept with his daughter on Aug 19 as well as hugged her and rubbed his crotch against her but denied raping or attempting to rape her.

The eight-year-old victim also claimed that this was the third time this year that such incident had happened.

According to the police report lodged by the victim’s mother (suspect’s wife), she had wanted to enter the bedroom that night but became suspicious after noticing the door was tightly closed despite the door knob being broken.

Upon opening the door, she found her husband and daughter in an unusual position. The victim then allegedly related to her mother about what happened.

Aidil said the victim was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for a medical check-up.

The suspect will be investigated under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.— DayakDaily
