KUCHING, Sept 21: A woman died while her husband suffered serious injuries after their motorcycle collided with a car at KM63 along Jalan Kuching-Sri Aman today.
Serian district police chief DSP Aswandy Anis said the 58-year-old victim, during the incident with her 72-year-old husband was riding a motorcycle around 6.45am.
It is believed that they were hit by a car which caused both of them to be thrown from the motorcycle.
“Preliminary investigations found that the motorcycle ridden by the husband and wife suddenly changed lanes from left to right.
“Due to the close distance, the motorcycle was hit by a car driven by a 31-year-old man,” he said in a statement today.
Aswandy said due to the collision, the husband suffered head injuries and serious injuries to his hands.
“The victim suffered severe injuries to her neck and hands and was confirmed dead by the medical team from Serian Hospital,” he added.
Both victims were sent to Serian Hospital for further action, while the driver of the car was unharmed.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
