SIBU, March 25: A 54-year-old female motorcyclist can thank her lucky stars as she was almost hit by a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle at Jalan Tong Sang yesterday.

At the time, the road was slippery due to heavy rain.

Acting district police chief Superintendent Dr Collin Babat said his department was still conducting further investigations on the 3pm incident where a video clip had gone viral on social media.

A 20-second video showed the woman jumping off her motorcycle as the 4WD vehicle driven by a 41-year-old man came out of the intersection.

“The Toyota Hilux driven by the man was exiting the road junction towards Jalan Bukit Assek while the woman was heading from Jalan Tong Sang towards the city centre.

“The woman managed to jump off her motorcycle to avoid being hit by the vehicle. However, she was injured and was sent to Sibu Hospital,” he said.

According to Collin, an investigation paper has not been opened until the woman makes a report. — DayakDaily
