Woman in Permyjaya escapes fiery death after ramming tree

The car burst into flames after skidding on the road and ramming into a tree.

MIRI, Feb 18: A 35-year-old driver escaped a fiery death when the car she was driving caught on fire after it skidded and rammed into a tree near a petrol station along the Kuala Baram By-pass road in Permyjaya on Monday night.

In the 11.05pm incident, the victim was driving a Kia Cerato bearing a Brunei registration plate number.


“The car had rammed into a tree after it veered off the road, and burst into flames,” said Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu.

The victim suffered minor injuries and has been rushed to Miri hospital for treatment.

A team of firemen from Lopeng fire station who arrived at the scene immediately put out the fire.

The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Legal Notification (LN) 166/59. —DayakDaily
