KUCHING, Oct 31: A 33-year-old woman was fined RM4,000 or 10 months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today for possessing an imitation firearm and using it to fire rubber pellets at a man during a road rage incident along Jalan Kuching-Serian last Monday (October 27).

The accused, Anis, pleaded guilty to two charges read before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan.

According to the first charge, she was found in possession of a fake pistol at a house in Taman Gita around 8.30am on the day of the incident, an offence under Section 36(1) of the Firearms Act 1960.

For the second charge, she was accused of committing criminal intimidation with intent to cause grievous harm to a 34-year-old man using the imitation weapon at the same time and location.

Case facts revealed that the victim and his wife were driving home from Siburan after completing a surprise delivery when their vehicle, a Perodua Alza, was involved in a provocation incident with the woman’s Perodua Viva in the right lane.

During the altercation, the accused allegedly braked suddenly, prompting the victim to stop his vehicle on the roadside. Both parties then exited their cars and exchanged heated words.

At one point, the woman pulled out what appeared to be a pistol and pulled the trigger, firing soft rubber pellets that struck the victim on the head. No injuries were reported.

She then quickly fled the scene, but a police report lodged by the victim led to her arrest later the same day.

Police seized several items including a Perodua Viva, car keys, the imitation pistol, a black magazine, and eight yellow rubber pellets.

Investigations also revealed that the woman had purchased the fake gun online.

The case was investigated by Inspector Awang Iswandi Awang Mahmuddin, Sergeant Ridvaner, and Sergeant Yusri Sidek while the accused was represented by counsel Lim Lian Kee. — DayakDaily
