KUCHING, Aug 16: A 68-year-old woman had a fatal road mishap after a four-wheel-drive truck collided into her at Jalan Sepupok, Niah on Saturday night.
The driver of the truck reported the case at 10.05 pm and a team of police was deployed to the scene.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said during the incident the driver suddenly saw the deceased in the middle of the road.
The driver was heading towards Sepupok Junction and had attempted to stop his vehicle by stomping on the brake pedal but failed.
After the collision with the deceased, he immediately went to the police station to lodge a report on the incident. The woman was pronounced dead by the medical officers from Pekan Niah Clinic.
The body was later brought to Miri Hospital for further action and police have started their investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.-Dayak Daily
