BAU, July 12: A woman was killed while her pillion rider sustained injuries after the motorcycle they were on skidded and was struck from behind by another vehicle in an accident at KM2 of Jalan Bau–Serikin early Friday morning (July 11).
In a TVS news report, Bau District Police chief DSP Dr Daram Ruer said the incident was reported to police at approximately 5.45am.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcycle was travelling from Serikin towards Bau. While navigating a bend, the rider is believed to have lost control while attempting to avoid a trailer that had veered into her lane,” he said.
As a result, both the rider and pillion passenger were thrown onto the road.
The pillion rider managed to get up, but the rider remained lying on the road and was subsequently hit by an unidentified vehicle from behind.
Both victims were rushed to Bau Hospital. However, the female rider was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.
The pillion rider sustained injuries to the knee, elbow, and arm.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the nearest police station. — DayakDaily
