Witnesses wanted following 17yo motorcyclist’s death along Jln Tun Patinggi Abang Haji Salahuddin

KUCHING, Aug 26: Police are looking for witnesses after a 17-year-old motorcyclist was confirmed dead in a road accident at Jalan Tun Patinggi Abang Haji Salahuddin here today.

Kuching district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the accident occurred around 1.30am this morning when the victim’s motorcycle collided with a Perodua Bezza vehicle.

After the impact, the motorcyclist was rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), but he was pronounced dead at 2.29am.

“A man aged 36 has been arrested to assist in the investigation,” Farhan said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine of up to RM50,000.
