Wildlife parts of protected species confiscated by SFC in Bintulu

KUCHING, Jan 27: Wildlife parts, including those of protected species were confiscated by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) Bintulu enforcement team on Tuesday (Jan 25) during ‘Ops Patuh’.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, SFC Bintulu said during the operation, two individuals were also arrested in two separate locations in the city for their involvement in the case.

“Among the confiscated items are four pieces of Kenyalang bird feathers, 74 pieces of Ruai Bird feathers, a preserved pangolin with its scales intact, three unit of coral stones, including a unit of shark jaws,” it said.

SFC added all of the confiscated items were brought to SFC Bintulu office for further action.

Assorted bird feathers from protected species that were also confiscated by SFC during the operation. 

Meanwhile, SFC said, selling and owning wildlife products is a violation of the Wildlife Protection Ordinance 1998.
