KUCHING, July 21: The Sessions Court here has sentenced a man to 12 months’ imprisonment for threatening to kill and causing harm to his mother and sister using an assortment of household items.
Ameeruddin Sodami, 30, pleaded guilty upon being charged with three counts, two of which were made under Section 324 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A of the same Code and another under Section 506 of the Penal Code for causing harm with a glass bowl, an air filter, a car key and a trash basket.
Sessions Court Judge Saiful Bahari Adzmi ordered the accused to serve 12 months in prison for each charge, with all sentences to be serve concurrently.
According to the first charge, the accused was accused of causing harm to his 59-year-old mother by hurling a glass bowl at the back of her head.
As for the second charge, the accused was alleged to have stabbed his 33-year-old sister’s ears and stomach using a car key, and also threw an air filter and a trash basket at her body.
The third charge saw the accused making criminal threats to kill both victims by uttering menacing words: ‘ney pisok, ku bunuh kitak duak’ (Where’s the knife, I’ll kill both of you).
All these offences were said to have taken place at their family residence in Matang Grandview Park on July 17, at about 10.30pm.
The facts of the case revealed that the accused went into a rage and suddenly turned aggressive when his sister refused to entertain his request for the car keys.
Apart from hurling objects, the accused also punched, injured and caused pain to various parts of both victims’ bodies during the incident.
As a result of the incident, both victims were left traumatized and feeling threatened. They then contacted another relative who subsequently lodged a police report for further action.
The accused was not represented by a lawyer, while the prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohammad Fauzan Zamri. — DayakDaily
