BETONG, Jan 25: For Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, receiving the Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) Honorary Fellow Award is not only a personal recognition but also a recognition of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu’s (PBB) contributions to Sarawak’s development.

Speaking at the PBB Betong Zone delegates’ conference today, the PBB chief said the award recognises Sarawak’s continuous efforts in planning and managing the State’s future with a clear vision.

“So, this is not just an award for me as an individual but also a recognition by Malaysian planning professionals for the development in Sarawak in terms of urban planning, economy, and renewable energy as well as our plans in the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) policy.

“This is also recognition to PBB because I am the head of PBB,” he said in a TVS news report.

Last night (Jan 24), Abang Johari attended the Malaysian Institute of Planners Planning Excellence Awards 2024 (MIPPEA2024) ceremony in Kuala Lumpur.

In attendance was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who presented him with the award.

In his speech at the award ceremony, Anwar said Abang Johari’s conferment of the award was well-deserved as his leadership showed that when a state or country is politically stable, it allows focus on development and the exploration of new ideas. — DayakDaily
