KUCHING, Nov 4: The Social Welfare Department’s (JKMS) Wellbest Entrepreneurs  Development (UWB) initiative has produced 154 entrepreneurs earning a monthly income of more than RM1,200.

Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said that based on the Welfare Score Card KPI 2022, that is more than 10 per cent (127) of JKMS’ target out of 1,269 participants from Sarawak.

“This initiative is to increase the monthly income of the recipients who participated in the entrepreneurship programme to enable them to get out of the poverty line,” said Fatimah, whose text speech was read by Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap during the JKMS Wellbest Entrepreneurs Awards ceremony held at a local mall today.

Meanwhile, Fatimah disclosed that JKMS has been using the newly published Economic Development Guidebook starting this year.

She said this is to ensure the quality of the training and entrepreneurship guidance are met with the standards set.

She added that the book is also expected to guide all UWB mentors, including all staff at various departmental levels, in managing the development programme at the grassroots level. — DayakDaily
