KUCHING, Nov 4: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has established 13 working committees to coordinate its preparations for the coming 13th Sarawak Election, with the coalition’s election manifesto currently being drafted.
GPS director of operations Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the preparations were presented to the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council during its meeting chaired by party president and Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at PBB headquarters today.
He said the 13 committees covered various areas, including the secretariat, projects and manifesto, intelligence, VVIP visits, logistics and air transport, finance, security and legal affairs.
“We have already informed the respective committee members about these arrangements during our previous meeting. This afternoon, we briefed the PBB Supreme Council on the preparations,” he told reporters after the meeting.
Uggah, who is also PBB deputy president, said the intelligence committee would be responsible for identifying issues that could arise during the election campaign and determining how best to address them.
“Normally, it is about identifying issues and how to overcome them, because all kinds of issues tend to emerge during an election,” he said.
On the coalition’s manifesto, Uggah confirmed that it was still being drafted, declining to reveal its proposed contents or main priorities ahead of its official launch.
“It is currently being drafted. Wait for the launch. Be patient, my friend,” he said.
He also urged all PBB branches throughout Sarawak to remain prepared for the upcoming election.
Uggah said the election preparations had been coordinated at the GPS level, with the operations team comprising the presidents of its four component parties, including PBB, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP). — DayakDaily
