KUCHING, June 26: The Kuching Welfare Department is appealing to the public for information regarding the whereabouts of Ayu Mami, the biological mother of eight-year-old Haikal Hanif.
According to a statement, the boy is currently under the care of the department’s Child Protection Unit.
The child was abandoned by his mother in 2022 and left in the care of a woman, Nur Khadijah Joket Nuyong, who was living in a rented house at Taman Tunku, Miri. Since then, Ayu Marni has neither returned nor made any inquiries about her son.
The case is currently being investigated under the Children’s Act 2001 by the appointed child protector.
