KUCHING, June 18: Water supply in Miri is expected to be restored by Monday (June 20), said Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Julaihi Narawi.
According to Julaihi, the repair work for the affected pipeline located at Batu 7 Jalan Miri-Bintulu is expected to be completed on Sunday (June 19), with supply gradually restored to all areas by Monday.
āHowever, it will depend on the weather. Hopefully, the weather is fine and repair works can continue,ā he told reporters after attending the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) 15th Triennial General Meeting (TGM) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
Julaihi noted that Laku Management Sdn Bhd had deployed 18 water tankers, including five more water tankers from Mukah, Bintulu, and Kapit, to supply water to the affected areas.
He said about 80 per cent of the areas were affected by the disruption except for the old part of Miri.
āWe deeply regret the inconvenience caused to the residents of Miri due to unexpected water interruption, and we will be updating the public through Laku Management in Miri, and of course through the response team in Miri itself,ā he added. ā DayakDaily
