KUCHING, June 19: Some 310 pints of blood have been collected thus far from the blood donation campaign held at Boulevard Shopping Mall yesterday and today (June 18 and 19).
The campaign was co-organised by Tay Motors Sdn Bhd, Boulevard Shopping Mall, Blood Bank of Sarawak General Hospital, Megalanes Sarawak, Chan Funeral Services, and Ah Liang Laksa.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng visited the campaign venue and distributed gifts to the donors in conjunction with Father’s Day today.
Wee said in his Facebook live stream, with understanding from Tay Motors director Aaron Tay, that the quota of 170 donors today has already been fulfilled.
“Seeing a lot of fathers here to donate blood, it is very heart-warming. Indeed, the campaign is very meaningful because of Father’s Day.
“As a mayor, and on this special day, I wish to urge all citizens to always have gratitude, especially to your parents and, of course, your fathers,” he added.
Commending the good efforts of Tay Motors and the other organisers, Wee expressed hope that such blood donation campaigns can be held continuously throughout the year to help those in need. — DayakDaily
