Water supply disruption in Sibu may take up to 8 hours

SIBU, March 15: Many areas in Sibu have experienced disrupted water supply since 6.55am today.

According to a report by Sibu Water Board (SWB), this is due to a leak on the 300mm D.I (ductile iron) main pipe inside the Bukit Lima Plant due to soil subsidence.

“The SWB contractor will try to repair the pipe leak as soon as possible. It is expected that the process will take about 8 hours,” it said in a statement today.

The affected areas are Taman Sentosa, Kenari Road, Bukit Lima Road, Belatok Road, Bukit Lima Timur Road, Jerrwit Road, Saujana Road, from Upper Lanang to Tg Kunyit Road, Lanang Road, Tekam Road, Kampung Nyabor Road, Keranji Road, Brooke Drive Road, Brother Albinus Road, Dr Wong Soon Kai Road, Oya 13 Road, Tiong Hua Road, Hua Kiew Road, Delta Road, Kpg Hilir Road and Kpg Nangka Road.

The unscheduled water disruption also affected areas of Deshon Booster Station (involving Apollo Road, Lilin Road, Sungai Merah Road, Kuang Road, Ulu Sungai Merah 1, 2, 8, 29 and 31 Road, Kwong Ann Road, Teng Chin Hua Road, Old Airport Road, Ding Lik Kong Road, Teku Lama Road, Teku Barat Road, Disa Road, Wawasan Road and Sungai Merah Police Station); Teku Booster Station (Quarry Road, Indah Road, Miden Road, Setia Road, Serai Road, Tebu Road, Teku Road, Rantau Panjang Road, Rantau Panjang Jaya Road and Teku Pasai Road); Sungai Maaw; and Sibu West Booster Station (Empawah Road and Bawang Assan Road). — DayakDaily
