Visitors to 2 identified suraus in Kota Samarahan urged to go screening tomorrow

A notice from State Health Department urging people who have visited two identified suraus to go for screening.

SAMARAHAN, Feb 19: People who have visited the IPG Tun Abdul Razak Samarahan Campus’ surau and UniGarden’s surau have been urged to go for Covid-19 screening at Kota Samarahan Health Clinic tomorrow (Feb 20) from 9am to 1pm.

The State Health Department informed this in a notice shared by Minister for Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian’s Telegram today.


Screening advice is for those who have visited the IPG Tun Abdul Razak Samarahan Campus’ surau between Feb 1 and 12.

Those who have visited the UniGarden’s surau located at Lorong 7B2, UniGarden between Feb 5 and 14 are also advised to go for screening.

Meanwhile, Samarahan is one of the 12 districts in Sarawak still under the high-risk Covid-19 red zone.

The district recorded a total of 53 local cases in the past 14 days.

Currently, Taman Univista at Kota Samarahan is placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from Feb 17 until March 2 after 45 positive cases were detected in the area on Feb 16.

It also led to the creation of the Univista Cluster which involved three localities namely Kampung Muara Tuang, Taman Univista and Taman Saramax.

The index case was a 33-year-old satay seller who traded in front of his residence in Taman Univista and was detected from symptomatic screening on Feb 6.

Today, the cluster recorded one new Covid-19 case to increase the total number of cases in the cluster to 47.

A total of 200 individuals have been screened whereby 10 more people are still awaiting lab test results.
