Visit BDC recycling centre without SUPP shirt and see the truth, DAP man tells Kota Sentosa rep

KUCHING, Jan 18: Michael Kong, special assistant to Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen, has urged Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap to visit the BDC recycling centre in plain clothes and not in a Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) shirt so that the latter would see the actual behaviour of the scavengers on site.

Kong said Yap must go undercover to see how the scavengers would swarm any nearby vehicles that are about to unload their recyclable goods at the centre.

ā€œWilfred Yap should stop living within his bubble of comfort and step into reality. To do so, I urge Wilfred Yap to visit the BDC recycling centre not as an elected representative but as a normal citizen of Kuching.

ā€œOnce he wears plain clothes and not the bright yellow SUPP shirt and goes undercover, Wilfred Yap will be able to see how the ragpickers would swarm any nearby vehicles that open their doors,ā€ said Kong in a statement today.

Adding on, he asserted that there must be proper procedures set up by Persatuan Pencinta Kitar Semula Taman BDC to deal with the public and their unwanted items.

Kong opined that the authorities should take over management of the BDC recycling centre if they find the association incapable of keeping things in order.

ā€œWith the current public mess within the vicinity of the recycling centre, it is clear that the said association is unable to handle it properly and naturally the only right thing to do is for the authorities to retake management so that the centre can be dealt with properly,ā€ he added. ā€” DayakDaily
