KUCHING, June 12: Political aide Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz must quit all political and government posts if he was indeed the person who confessed being in a sex video with a man who resembled a Cabinet Minister.
Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Wanita deputy secretary Sharifah Hazlina Syed Musa Jamalullail urged Haziq to relinquish all positions he is holding within his office, political party, government-linked companies and non-governmental organisations as a sign of respect to the people and to ensure smooth investigation by the authorities.
This provided that Muhammad Haziq, who is the private secretary to Deputy Minister of Primary Industries and Commodities Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin and also PKR Santubong Youth chief, was one of the two persons involved in the viral sex video with another high ranking government official in light of his purported confession on Facebook.
“We have more urgent issues at hand, and we must remain focussed on all aspects related to education, economy and good governance.
“My fear is that if we indulge in this game of defamation once more, we will be lost in our cause of wanting to see reformation as this rings and reeks of the familiar scenario 20 years ago,” she said in a statement today.
She added that the opportunity to fix the nation was now in danger of regressing into oblivion, and if passed by, it will be too late for the Malays to catch up with the others with this obsession over a viral sex video.
The man purported as Muhammad Haziq in the Facebook confession had created a stir across the nation, as the person also named the minister allegedly in the video and said the latter was not fit to be a leader.
The video of two men engaging in sexual acts has been making its rounds on social media, as well as on WhatsApp.
With regards to the situation, Sharifah Hazlina suggested that it would be better if Muhammad Haziq was replaced by a suitable female candidate.
“I say this because women are known to be strong and resilient in the face of adversities and possessed the maternal instinct to ensure the survival of her children and her surroundings.
“Women are known for their inner strength and we, the nation, needs a strong matriarch figure and her fighting spirit to triumph not only as a successful nation but also to heal and to survive,” she said. — DayakDaily
