Eleven firefighters from Batu Lintang fire station were despatched to the scene.

After accessing the situation, firefighters managed to contact the building technician and instruct the person-in-charge to bring the elevator key.

At the same time while waiting, they managed to calm the children who were in tears inside the lift.

However, after 20 minutes of waiting for the technician, firefighters decided not to wait any longer as one of the girls had asthma.

Firefighters decided to use specialised equipment called a ‘hydraulic spreader’ to force the door open.

The girls were not injured and were safely reunited with their family. — DayakDaily
