Sarawak’s Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy chairman, Senator Abun Sui Anyit, said this was not the first time the Bakun Resettlement Scheme (BRS) was involved in a fire tragedy.
“Every time there is a fire at BRS Sungai Asap, there will be voices of dissatisfaction from the local people on the failure of the federal government to build a fire station in Sungai Asap until today.
“As of 2019, the government has approved the construction of a category E fire station. It’s just that the approved station has not yet been built,” he said in a statement today.
Abun Sui further said the PKR Sarawak and PKR Hulu Rajang branch will try to provide assistance to the fire victims to the best of their ability.
“We also hope that with today’s fire tragedy, the allocation to build the fire station in Sungai Asap will be included under Budget 2024 and tabled in Parliament this October,” he added. — DayakDaily
