SIBU, Jan 20: DSP Veronica Judia Jeron has become the first woman to head the Crime Prevention and Community Security Department (JPJKK) of the District Police Headquarters (IPD).
Veronica takes over from her predecessor DSP Ariffin Bahar who will be retiring this year.
The handing over ceremony between Ariffin and Veronica was held at IPD Sibu today, witnessed by Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili.
Zulkipli in his brief speech said that the JPJKK section is very important in implementing initiatives with the objective of reducing the crime rate and increasing the perception of safety among the general population of Sibu.
Zulkipli congratulated Veronica on her appointment as the new chief of the department.
“I am confident that with more than 20 years of experience in the field of policing as a lecturer at the Royal Malaysian Police Training Center (PULAPOL), she will be able to shoulder the trust given to her with excellence,” he said.
Meanwhile, he assured that the police will continue to work together with the community in Sibu.
He explained that the effort is very important to ensure that the community always feels safe with the presence of the police. — DayakDaily
