KUCHING, Jan 20: Bong Kin, who is bedridden and suffering from a brain haemorrhage, has been relocated from his house in Batu Kawa to KMC Flat here.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the council was notified of Bong’s health situation by Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian’s office.

“Bong lives in Batu Kawa, but the house is not suitable as he is currently bed bound and unable to care for himself due to hypertensive intracranial bleeding.

“In view of the urgency and condition of Bong, MBKS, under the MBKS Caring Society Programme, used the emergency reserved unit at KMC Flat to allocate Bong and his family.

“Bong’s family agreed to bear the cost of the utility deposit for Kuching Water Board (KWB) and Syarikat Sesco Berhad (Sesco) as the other expenses had been taken care of by MBKS, the Social Welfare Department (JKM), and non-governmental organisations (NGOs),” he said in a statement today.

Wee also mentioned that Dr Sim’s office had assisted Bong with the monthly rental through the Sarawak Rental Assistance Scheme (SRAS) under Sarawak Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

He also thanked KWB and Sesco for their prompt action on the connection of the utilities at the said unit and HNC Medical Supplies for donating a bed for Bong.

“Not to forget, thank you to JKM for facilitating the patient’s welfare application and Kuching Sunflower Caring Society for the ambulance arrangement,” he added.

He further urged the members of the public to work together and reach out to people who are having any form of hardship. — DayakDaily
