Judge Wong Siong Tung ordered that the jail sentence be effective from the date of the accused arrest, which was on December 2, 2022.

In passing the sentence, Judge Wong said that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the accused on three charges.

Ahmad, 32, was charged with Section 302 of the Penal Code for murdering two Indonesian women, Pandang Sarang and Muli Laha.

On the first charge, Ahmad murdered Pandang at around 11am at an oil palm plantation in Daro on Feb 11, 2022.

On the second charge, he murdered Muli at another oil palm plantation in Daro at around 11pm the same day.

The bodies of the two women were discovered at RC Dermaga, Sungai Samong, in Daro on Feb 12 and Feb 14, respectively.

As for the third charge under Section 326 of the Penal Code, he had voluntarily caused hurt to another Indonesian, Tene, at about 11am on Feb 11, 2022, on a road on the same plantation.

He was arrested at Jalan Sentral Daro at around 3.30pm on Feb 12, 2022.

Judge Wong said the accused exhibited clear intent to kill all three victims and succeeded in the case of Pandang and Muli to rob them of their jewellery and money.

At the time of the offence, the accused was sending the three victims from the oil palm plantation to Daro town in his car.

DPP Mark Kenneth Neto prosecuted, while the accused was represented by Ben Lau. ā€” DayakDaily
