MIRI, July 16: The Covid-19 vaccination drives for Long Lama and Long Jegan located in the interior of Baram here have been suspended until further notice due to flooding as residents were unable to make it to the vaccination centres (PPVs).

Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (Miri DDMC), in a statement today said that heavy downpours in Miri Division since Monday has caused several areas in the Baram interior to be devastated by floods.

“The situation has made it more difficult for people to visit the PPVs to get their Covid-19 vaccine shots.

“As such, the Miri Division Health Office had informed that the vaccination drive at the affected PPVs had to be suspended until further notice,” Miri DDMC added.

However, the vaccination operation at the Mulu health clinic PPV, which was previously suspended due to flooding, has already resumed.

“As for the Long Loyang health clinic PPV, residents are able to use a boat to get to the facility to get their vaccine shots.

“As for other health clinics in the rural interior scheduled to run their vaccination drive this Saturday, it will be assessed according to the current situation tomorrow morning,” Miri DDCM explained. — DayakDaily
