SIBU, March 7: The collaboration between Shanti Bhuana Institute (SBI) and University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) will benefit both Indonesia and Malaysia, especially in the education field.
“The collaboration with UTS is crucial for Shanti Bhuana Institute because it will strengthen the relationship between the two institutions and expand their opportunities in education and research for both countries in Indonesia and Malaysia. This collaboration can bring significant benefits to both parties,” said SBI’s rector Marianus Dinata Alnijia at the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between both parties today.
He said one of the main benefits of this collaboration is that students and faculties can engage in exchange programmes which will allow them to learn and teach in different academic environments, as well as broaden their knowledge and experience.
“This exchange programme can help strengthen partnerships and expanding academic networks between the two institutions,” said Marianus.
He expressed confidence that this collaboration can be expanded further especially in joint research programmes, curriculum development, and other academic activities.
These can help strengthen academic expertise and experience in both institutions and improve the quality of education and research in the fields of Information Technology, Management, Business, and Elementary School Teacher Education.
UTS vice chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Khairuddin Hamid, opined that the globalisation of higher education is one way to enhance the cooperation between the younger generations in both countries/regions through academic and research programmes, cultural and social activities, and development of mutual understanding based on respect and tolerance.
He also anticipated that cross border activities will grow dramatically with the opening of international gateways that will allow more students and staff mobility between the two regions.
Meanwhile, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching, Raden Sigit Witjaksono disclosed that his office will always be committed in supporting such collaborations as it will benefit both regions. — DayakDaily
