US-based company keen to invest in Sarawak for green energy, digital technology

KUCHING, Feb 3: Capricorn Investment Group, a prominent United States-based investment firm known for backing Tesla and SpaceX, has expressed interest to invest in Sarawak, particularly in renewable energy and advanced technology sectors.

The good news was conveyed to Sarawakā€™s Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg by Capricorn and InvestSarawak delegations during a courtesy call held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today, Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) reported.

Speaking to reporters afterwards, InvestSarawak chief executive officer Timothy Ong Wye Em said the meeting deliberated on how Capricorn can support Sarawakā€™s development in new energy, battery technology and the space industry.

ā€œCapricorn has extensive experience in high-tech investments and sees Sarawak as a strategic destination for green energy and digital technology projects,ā€ he said.

Ong further said Abang Johari welcomed Capricornā€™s interest, emphasising Sarawakā€™s commitment to becoming a key player in ASEANā€™s green energy transition.
